I headed south on the 4009 out of town to ride to Phi Pun to see if there was a road across the mountains joining up with the 4186, once a fair few km out of town the 4009 has its moments like in the above picture

I was awoken at 6.30 this morning by the noise of Hat Yais traffic, which was a blessing in disguise as it meant I got out by 8am. I soon was on hwy 4 heading towards Sadao, this is one horrible road full of traffic and it was a real relief to turn left onto the 42

An unusual choice of food for me tonight, I eat in a Muslim food restaurant and have a chicken curry, theres one in Chiang Rai and I use that if there. This meal cost the grand sum of 25 Baht, two of them plus an extra portion of chicken and I was full and only 60 Baht lighter in the wallet. Thats my quota of rice for february so probably a pizza at Wunderbar tomorrow

I take the 1001 towards Phrao, about 25 km out of town the buildings finish and its a good fun road, plenty of potato fields out here
Its mostly good tarmac
Plenty of curves too
At Phrao I take the 1150 heading east towards Wiang Pa Pao
