The route 401

Total distance 340 km

I took the 401 out of town to go to the Ratchaprapha dam, its a busy road and a dual carriageway for a fair way then the extra lanes are under construction. The road works are not a problem and its a good surface all the way along

The scenery is great though

I stop at Ban Ta Khun for breakfast then take a road signposted to the dam

I think the above photo is a stunning picture, and those gorgeous hills in the background too

I ride back to Ban Ta Khun and carry on heading west along the 401, after about five km the 415 goes to the left and thankfully most of the traffic goes with it

The bikes a bit lighter today Davidfl, as I will be staying in Surat Thani for a few days I only take the essentials out with me each day

This is one fun very scenic road now, first thing this morning I was regretting trying out this road but now I am glad that I have

The further I go the twistier it gets

This scenery is just brilliant too

I ride to about 20 km before Takua Pa and where the 4090 goes off to my left then turn round and ride this fun road back home. Its one well surfaced road from beginning to end

I left my hotel to go to eat where I ate last night and about four shops away from my hotel the word pizza caught my eye, so I went in

This filling and reasonably tasting pizza was only 120 Baht at the Baansatek Restaurant, I wondered as there were loads of steaks on the menu if Baansteak was how they meant to spell it.

A good ride out today and I will be here for at least three more nights exploring new roads. Looking at an old map of mine it shows a road linking the 4194 at the Phi Pun reservoirs with the 4186 to the north west of Nakhon Si Thammarat. There was a tarmac road leading up into the hills at the reservoirs but it wasnt on my new map so I guess I had better get back there and check it out
