The route 1169, 1081, 1333/4016, 1257, 1225, 1168

Total distance 251 km
Image
Heading out on the 1169 and some early morning views
Image
Its not cold here in the mornings even up in the hills
Image
Huai Khon Kaen Reservoir 2
Image
Less than half a metre below capacity
Image
The 1169 has a good surface plus great scenery
Image
I notice this giant bottle made of bottles alongside the road, now I definitely dont remember seeing this in janaury
Image

Image

Image
It looks like there is already a collection going for a new building
Image
I take a right onto the 1081, hopefully we wont be losing great bends like this when the widening reaches here
Image

Image
You can see at the top of the picture where they are cutting through the hill and whats the betting that the sharp corner there disappears
Image
Now onto a lovely new section of the 1081

Before Bo KLuea I take a right onto the 1333 but my gps still has it as the 4016 which was its old number.
Along here this building on the hill is a new one and catches my eye
Image
At N19.03.570 E101.10.211 I take a left onto an unnumbered road that doesnt show on the gps
Image
This goes for 2.8 km then turns to a dirt track at N19.04.235 E101.11.434, good views from a climb up a hill and I will explore it further on another trip so its turnaround time and back to the 1333
Image
I ride on a bit further and at N19.00.978 E101.11.437 I take a left onto an unnumbered narrow concrete road that runs for 1.8 km to a village
Image
The road forks, I take the left but only a short distance later the road finishes at this very narrow bridge, I have no desire to get the Phantom stuck or even worse have a board break on me so I turn round and take the other fork
Image

Image

Image

Image
The concrete road finally finishes at the entrance to this shop
Image
Its time to walk around and get some village life photos
Image

Image

Image
I park at the bridge over the Nam Mae Mang at N19.01.437 E101.11.779 and walk a bit over the bridge, no I dont like the swaying at all and cant wait to get off of it
Image

Image

Image
There is a temple on a hill overlooking the village
Image

Image
In the hills there are some more buildings
Image

Image

Image
Back on the 1333
Image
I take a left onto the 1350 at N19.00.659 E101.12.049 and a sign says Phufa Development Center, I ride to this building at N19.01.138 E101.12.650
Image
Every tree here is named
Image

Image
Beautiful scenery shots from walking around the outside
Image

Image
I then ride to the buildings that I saw from the previous village, here is at N19.01.480 E101.12.280
Image

Image
After a look around its the 2.7 km ride back to the 1333
Image
A bit further along and the Wa has merged with the Mae Mang
Image
Its a very good road surface at the moment but as I am approaching the hills it will soon turn to lots of loose gravel
Image

Image

Image
This is another road that I first discovered eight years ago on my first Phantom and enjoy riding it every visit but it never seems to get a mention from anyone else
Image

Image

Image
Now if only this road could have the decent surface all the way through
Image
As I ride down the other side this lovely view awaits me, a new surface, unfortunately it doesnt go all the way to the 1257 though
Image
These two are busy at work
Image

Image

Image
I reach the 1257 and turn left onto it
Image

Image

Image

Image
Lots of ridgeline riding along here, at the end its the 1225 and the 1168 home.
Back in Nan I take the Phantom in for an oil change but the mechanics cant undo the sump plug as the nuts corners are knackered, at 16.50 its not the best time to start messing around so first thing tomorrow hopefully they can remove it and replace it with a new one, that will only be its fourth one courtesy of overtightening plus using the wrong type of tools.
Later on I realise that the Phantom has actually had its first parts failure, the headlight low beam has blown after only 94000km, I will be sending an e-mail to Tokyo about this defective part
Image
A double portion of lasagna plus garlic bread at Tonys Place tonight for 208 Baht and did it take some eating.

One Response to “Nan-The 1333 And Some Roads Off Of It”

  1. Even if it’s road’s I’ve ridden before your reports make those roads just call out for more riding. So many good roads in Nan, awesomeness! I was shown the 1081The Nan area is pretty neat for it’s openness isn’t it?
