It was a 7.30 start this morning, out of town on the 324 and what a busy road this was this morning, it was great to finally take a left onto the much more peaceful 3443

Looks like the workers are in no hurry to get working

I take a left onto the 3306

Its another well surfaced road with some decent views

Heading out of Ban Rai on the 3282 and this is the best part of the journey with not much traffic

Some good scenery plus a fine riding road

The 1072 takes me to the 1117 and I stop here at a Honda shop to get the oil changed. The mechanic seems to want to take the bike apart, hes cleaning and inspecting everything, normally I wouldnt mind but I am in a hurry to get going. Finally the bill arrives and I expect it to be a bit higher than normal but its only 20 Baht, I question it as I thought that the cashier must have forgotten to charge for the oil. Apparently its a promotion at the moment for the new year

I leave the shop along the 1117 then after about twenty km take a left onto an unnumbered road

A right onto the 4003

Then a left onto the 1116

Apart from the odd pot hole on a smaller road the entire journey is done on good roads

At a crossroads its straight over and the road is now the 4001

At the end its a left onto the 1110 then further on a left onto the 1108 which takes me to the 105, I turn left onto it and ride to Mae Sot

A spicy Mexican at Krua Canadian tonight for 140 Baht

Followed by the ice cream for 55 Baht at the same restaurant

One of the guests got bitten on the foot by a snake last night at where I am staying so there was a big hunt and this snake got killed, whether it was the culprit or not who knows

I tried out a couple of new roads today in a pleasant loop, I am on the 4006 heading south near to Suan Phueng

This is a good well surfaced road

I reach the 3313 and turn left onto it, after a few km at Ban Pong Krathing the road becomes the 3206 and a bit further on I take a left onto the 3337

I take a left onto the 4001 and wonder what that cows got in its mouth

Affluent farmers around here then, even the cows get a packed lunch

Obviously thinks that I am after the food

I ride on and stop at the Mai Teng Reservoir

Not a lot of water in this one

Its a pleasant ride through tapioca and sugar cane fields

I do a stint on the 4010, and 4009 then I am back on the 2006

A spicy Italian pizza wrap at Ali Bongos tonight for 139 Baht

First stop this morning was the Honda shop as yesterday the two brackets that my spotlights and mounting bar was attached to snapped. Considering the weight of these extras on two small brackets they did well to last the 55000 km that I have covered, especially off road riding has the spotlights wildly jumping around. Unsurprisingly the shop didnt have the brackets, possibly no one has ever needed them before but they offered to weld them for me.

I didnt fancy them welding around my electrics in the headlight so declined and as the bungee cord was holding everything in place I said I will wait until I get to Chiang Mai. Then they phoned the boss who spoke fluent English, they explained what had happened and she had the brackets in stock at her other shop and said they would be with me within one hour. It was only 9.50am so I said okay and went for a walk around, I returned to the shop at 10.20 and the bike was fixed and when I got the bill it was for the grand sum of 180 Baht. I said to myself again today that as things stand at the moment that I cant ever see myself buying another imported bike

Finally underway I take hwy 4 north for about fifteen km then take a left onto the 3349 and a pleasant ride to Nong Ya Plong

I reach a crossroads with the 3510 and go straight across as its signposted to a waterfall and hot springs. Not far along here I see these boats and stop for a look

The road was not numbered to start with but then becomes the 6026

This sounds interesting

Its a very pleasant twisty road along here

I reach the waterfall with the floating market but everythings locked up, some nearby people say not open, perhaps its a seasonal thing

So I ride on to the hot springs

This was it, the water was very warm but I could hold my hands in it okay, a bit further on was where you could take a hot spring bath

The only way out was the way that I came in so its a turn around, lots of pineapples all over the place during the last two days riding

I take a left onto the 3510 then a left onto the 3206

This is a good fun road with a great surface

This building certainly stood out

A pleasant little spot at Ban Pong where the road now becomes the 3313

The 3313 is always a pleasant ride

I take a right onto the 3087 for a few km then its a left onto the 4205 which takes me to the 3274 where I turn left onto it

Some workers toiling in the tapioca field, I carry on and then take a left onto the 3209 then a right onto the 3228 and on to Kanchanaburi

Ali Bongos the Indian restaurant was closed when I got there so no curry for me tonight, I had this Pizza at the Jolly Frog Backpackers Guest House, not bad and it was only 105 Baht

I wanted to get to Phetchaburi early so didnt stop for many photos on the way, heres one from the 3313

At Ban Pong on a ninety degree left hand bend the road becomes the 3206 and like all of todays route was a well surfaced road

I take a right onto the 3150 to Nong Ya Plong

At Nong Ya Plong I take the 3349 which takes me to hwy 4, here its a right onto it and thankfully only a few km to Phetchaburi. I check in at the Rabieng Rimnum then head out to the Kaeng Krachan Dam

I have to take hwy 4 for about fifteen km then its a right onto the 3187 for a few km then a right onto the 3499, thankfully once along here its a lot more peaceful

Riding on a bit and theres loads of monkeys in the road

The road now becomes the 3432 and Its a very pleasant quiet road

I ride to where the surface finishes then turn round and ride home. I eat at my guesthouse but it was not a nice meal

Walking down the street I see an ice cream parlour so an ice cream and waffle is consumed

It was cold and foggy in Sangkhlaburi at 7 am this morning

I left at around 9 oclock by which time the temperature had risen plus the fog had lifted so visibility wasnt a problem

The 323 is a great winding twisty road between Sangkhlaburi and Thong Pha Phum

Most of the Thai tourists left last night so I mostly have the road to myself

The sign for this place said Pom Pee Viewing

I stop at the Kroeng Krawia waterfall

Surprisingly theres no charge for this

Then some more of this wider now good fun road, a bit further along on a bendy bit a pick up truck swerves and doesnt miss me by too much, I had to smile when I saw that he had swerved to avoid running over a snake, rather ironic I thought

I stop at the 7-11 outside Thong Pha Phum and a new friend comes along, this one keeps getting food given by visitors to the 7-11 so probably doesnt know what going hungry is all about

At Nam Tok I stop to look at the Sai Yok Nai waterfall

No improvement on the spelling around here

This brings back memories of years ago in England, towing another motorbike. My most memorable one was when I had a Yamaha XT550 and my Mate a Yamaha XS 650, the 650 broke down in Birmingham over 200 km away so I had to tow it back. These two were really moving, that Wave must have been getting a real hammering

A pleasant twisty road that takes me to the 3199, here I take a right and ride to Kanchanaburi. Its nice and early so its a shower, change of clothes then off for another good massage, Z was five minutes away from finishing her massage so not long to wait for mine
